Laptop Power Jack Repair

Having problems keeping the AC adaptor plug in your laptop?   You’ve pulled the cord every which way to keep your laptop running.  It’s gotten to the point that pulling the cord isn’t working anymore.  If you’re not experiencing this problem maybe your laptop battery won’t charge?  Either way, both of these problems are signs that there is a problem with the DC Jack.  The cause of this problem is a loose or broken DC Jack.

Why this breaks is because tension is put on the DC Jack by the AC adaptor cord.  This breaks from prolonged tension on the DC Jack over a period of months and years.  This tension can be avoided by not placing the cord going to one side or the other of the laptop.  You either want the transformer box to sit on the surface that the laptop is sitting on or the cord to go straight back.  This allow for sufficient slack on the cord when moving the laptop around.

Thankfully this can be repaired instead of having to replace with an expensive motherboard replacement or the replacement of the laptop.  When fixing this problem we disassemble the necessary parts and remove the motherboard of the laptop.  We either replace the whole jack itself with a new one or resolder the DC jack.  After testing that everything is working right we then reassemble the laptop and get it ready to get it back to you.
